What Should I Do When I Want To Sell My Timeshare?

Let's assume that I have timeshares for a vacation property in Bali, Indonesia, arranged by a mainland real estate company and furnished for my enjoyment, or rather, planned enjoyment back then. Let's assume further that something intervenes with my plans, say, a family emergency, or a new job that would require me to move to another state if not another country, or a new vacation destination that I recently discovered. What would happen to my timeshares? Should I just allow them to expire without getting something in return? That would be a waste of my hard earned money, right?
Thankfully, I could always sell my timeshare. There are a lot of interested buyers who are looking for timeshares in the secondary market, especially for hot real estate in popular destinations. Sometimes you can sell your timeshares for the same price you have acquired them. There are also times when the interests of such timeshares may have increased, and a corresponding increase in their value can be demanded. Often, however, you'd have to settle for a price that is lower than what you have paid for. The trick is quite apparent: always look for the best deal for your timeshares.
So how do I sell a timeshare? Ordinarily, I look for personal referrals from family and friends. This would help me save up on advertising costs. When no interested buyers are available, that is the only time when I resort to advertising. Thankfully, there are a lot of free advertising channels in the World Wide Web, though the exposure they could give may be minimal. The good venues often command a price. An ad placement in my local dailies would be a good option. Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising with Google and Yahoo gets me some targeted prospects, as well.
When I do decide to sell my timeshare, I make it a point to package it in a really enticing manner. I have to be honest with you. The secondary market for timeshares is quite tough. There simply isn't enough demand to consume the existing supplies.
The simplest method by which I could sell my timeshare is by hiring a broker. A broker would source out interested parties who wish to purchase my timeshare. Broker arrangements vary. Some brokers demand a flat rate. Others demand no rates at all, and it's up to them to put a markup on the base price of my timeshares. Nonetheless, I find this option the most convenient and often, the most effective as well.
